useBrief is a local-only macOS app. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your notes never leave your device.
Nothing. useBrief does not require an account, does not connect to any server, and does not send any data anywhere. All session data — your cards, notes, and settings — is stored locally on your Mac using macOS file system APIs.
useBrief does not include any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. We do not use cookies, pixels, or any third-party tracking tools in the application.
This landing page (usebrief.app or equivalent) uses no third-party analytics. No cookies are set on this website.
All data you create in useBrief is stored in your Mac's local Application Support directory. Backups, syncing, and any export of that data are entirely under your control. useBrief does not access iCloud, Dropbox, or any other cloud service unless you explicitly do so yourself.
useBrief may request the following macOS permissions:
Accessibility — used only to register global keyboard shortcuts so hotkeys work while other apps are in the foreground. No screen content is read.
Microphone (optional) — only if you enable speech recognition features. Audio is processed on-device and never recorded or uploaded.
useBrief does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs that collect data. If future versions add optional integrations, this policy will be updated and you will be notified in-app.
useBrief is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the app's release notes.
